Arnhemse Stockdagen 2016

The Arnhemse Stockdagen are here! It is one of those events were you have the best of both worlds: discounts and designer collections (halleluja!). From interior to fashion and from small entrepreneurs to Arnhem based designers who are well known in the Netherlands. Yesterday was the first day and within a few hours I quickly tried to cover as much ground as possible (I ended up sweating like a pig, it was 30 degrees…). Every year I’m truly amazed by the quality. The combination of well known stores such as Humanoid (think Acne in sale and their own collection with great discounts) and designers such as Klaas Kuiken (the vase is his design) and the well known sister duo Spijkers&Spijkers (hello gorgeous new blazer!) is unheard of.

There are four locations (sort of):
Plint26 – the main building of the Arnhemse Stockdagen with collections of 57 designers (located in the city centre).
City Centre – a collection of places and shops located in the centre.
Modekwartier – a collection of places and shops located in the Modekwartier.
IPKW – an industrial area filled with product design.

I skipped Plint26 because I only had a few hours (and you need a whole day to see everything), but I did manage to visit the rest. Here are my favorites:

City Centre:
Humanoid – my favorite shop of Arnhem , it’s crazy busy though (buy three items and get 50% off).
Spijkers&Spijkers – beautiful pieces and everything 50% off (temporarily located at Wezenstraat 5).
Coming Soon – my second favorite store.
Jones Arnhem – they’re selling vintage designer pieces next to their regular designer collections, now in sale.
Meijer en Floor – an overload of interior design.

Modekwartier:
The stores in the Modekwartier are small unique stores. I didn’t really see anything I wanted to buy (except the blanket by Orange or Red, which was 50% off), but it’s always nice to pay a visit to stores selling unique pieces.
Graphic Playground – minimal graphic and product design.
June Interiors – Scandinavian design for your home but especially for your kids.
Lenneke Wispelwey – delicate ceramic pieces with a colorful but minimal easthetic.
Orange or Red – minimal blankets and pillows.
Where we work – design pieces from lamps to office supplies.

IPKW
It’s one location – an old factory – so just wander around. Don’t miss this one! You’ll find great product designers and one of a kind items. Some of my favorites:
Klaas Kuiken – quirky and minimal designs.
Rick Tegelaar – gorgeous lighting.
Spitsberg – designs with a Scandinavian aesthetic.
Erik Stehmann – so much humor!
Weltevree – amazing items for the outdoors.

Check the site of Arnhemse Stockdagen for all the designers and a helpful map. Happy shopping!
