Once a year my relatively small city becomes crowded: music, entertainment and of course what’s it all about, the four days’ marches. For 4 days people from all over the world come to Nijmegen to walk 40km per day. I don’t know what those people are thinking! This Friday the misery will end and they will walk the last part: the Via Gladiola, while the spectators hand out gladioli. It’s a symbol for their great achievement. Of course I’m sitting on my lazy bum all week (except for the parties in the evening), so I had to buy my own gladiolus. Ah well, beats the walking if you ask me!
