It’s the time of the year again: queensday is coming! Last year we went to the ‘vrijmarkt’ in Nijmegen and after searching through a lot of garbage we found our kangaroo (my favorite animal in the house since my boyfriend is allergic and this is the best I can do ;). It’s made from real leather, it’s an animal (always a big plus) and it’s vintage. The price? €25,- (we bargained of course, the original asking price was €40,-). But little did we know…

A month later -while visiting Paris and their infamous markets- we saw a similar animal: a pig. Of course I wanted to have it. I mean: what a nice collection would that be! But I was shocked to hear that the seller asked €1600,-!!! My mouth literally dropped to the floor. As it turns out the kangaroo we have is a real Omersa and is made in the 50’s. The other animals are all footstools and the kangaroo is the only one which functions as a magazine holder. That’s what I call a bargain. Let’s hope this year will be just as successful!
