The one thing I can’t seem to stop buying are notebooks. At one point it got so bad that it felt like I owned over 100 notebooks. So I did the only logical thing: I forbid myself from buying any new notebooks. A notebook ban. How long before I surrendered you ask? Well, the notebook ban lasted for one whole month…
Why you can never have enough notebooks
I soon ended up with a fresh supply of empty books and to avoid any guilt, I convinced myself notebooks are a necessity. But hear me out: they are a necessary everyday item (no, really)! Being able to write down your own thoughts with pen and paper, beats to-do apps and Evernote every time. Which is strange, considering I don’t own a paper agenda, my to-do’s are organized in Evernote and I keep digital favorites lists. But having an empty page gives room for new thoughts; paper feels more ‘free’.
Insights don’t usually arrive at my desk, but go into notebooks when I’m on the move. Or half-asleep
Anything digital relates so close to work for me, that my brain instantly goes into work mode whenever I’m behind the computer. Free thinking and associating becomes almost impossible. Do you have the same?
